Day 1

After much needless research that is typical of me, it seemed like just using first class mail was a good option for sending in this application since it's basically only traveling across town.  Although Mary remained a stickler that we needed to photocopy everything we sent in, this turned out for the best.  While taking the completed application back out, I read a note on the application to make sure you include your "Letter of Request".  This odd sounding document was nowhere to be found.  After much searching, Mary mentioned there were a few papers from the original information packet that she had set aside.  Sure enough, for some reason there is a one page form called "Letter of Request" that has the same information as questions that are on the application regarding generally what sort of child you are asking to adopt.  Why it's a separate form is beyond me, however it seemed important to submit and I'm sure it would have slowed down the process a bit if we hadn't sent it in.  I'm sure this is not the last time we will be duplicating the same information on forms from what we understand of the process, just was surprised it was before we were even dealing with governments!

In any case, we made the trip to the post office and officially sent in our application, so we expect to hear back from AWAA after Thanksgiving sometime...
